I run a fairly successful Call of Duty channel called Top Call of Duty Plays. Yesterday, I received a notification that the entire channel has been demonetized due to 'Reused content' (see here).I know what you're likely thinking. Yes, it is a compilation channel but we're not like most other compilation channels. We are extremely strict about getting the required permission to use third-party gameplay clips in our videos. All clips are pulled directly from a pool of user submissions that have legally (important) given us the right to use the content in our videos. It's even called out explicitly in the submission process (form here) that content including their clips will be monetized on the channel. Every person features in our videos has given consent and actually wants to have their content included in our videos.I'm now in a position where I can't afford to keep my editors on. I have spent 6-7 hours a day (on top of my 9-6 job) for almost a year building an incredible community that I now have to let down. That's an incredibly bitter pill to swallow. What I find particularly hard to process is YouTube is willing to keep channels like Fortnite Funny—a compilation channel that does not get permission before using third-part content—alive and monetised.I'm currently attempting to appeal this decision via the Live Chat/email support system but from experience, I do not expect their decision to change despite the evidence of content rights that I have provided. If anybody has had a similar experience or can offer any advice, I would really appreciate it. via /r/youtube
