I did some thinking, and realised that for YouTube to function as a platform, the website needs to appeal to the needs of about 4-5 completely different groups of people. Those being: Viewers, individual creators, corporate channels, advertisers and the company itself.Let me explain...Viewers expect to be given the best viewing experience possible. That means the right videos being recommended to them, not to many ads, being sent important notfiications, navigating the website well, sharing content with others, engaging with that content (liking/disliking, commenting etc.) and much more. Then YouTube needs to accomodate for the needs of both individual creators, and large companies at the same time, with both parties using the exact same platform for publishing content. Both parties have a channel, where they upload and share videos, have the ability to interact with the community and have advertisements shown. It's quite staggering how both situations can potentially work out well despite one channels owner being some guy filming in his bedroom, and the other being a corporation with thousands of employees and a seemingly unlimited budget. Then there's advertisers. Advertisers expect for their ads to be shown not just on advertiser friendly content, but they expect those ads to be shown in a good, staright forward manner, and they expect those ads to be shown on a regular basis. Because it's impossible for YouTube to have closely monitor all the content being uploaded, you can never fully guarantee that content will be suited for advertisers, and if a company finds just one instance of something going wrong, the potential reprocussions can be huge. Then there's YouTube as a company. After all of what i previously mentioned, the people at YouTube need to make the website a welcoming and promosing place for everyone involved. So the employees need to somehow meet the needs of everyone involved in the best way possible. If viewers stop watching, the business will simply have no business. If individual creators are left in the dark, many people will be out of an income, and regular viewers will stop watching. If companies stop being shown attention, many more people will be out of a job. If advertisers are deterred away, then a large source of revenue for both creators and companies will be taken away, and they will leave the platform. And if things go wrong at the top, if YouTube as a brand faces huge problems, who knows what could happen. So just remember, though there are simple things that YouTube can improve on (there always have been and always will be), remember the unique and incredibly strange situation the company is in, and all the people and companies that they have to appeal to.Thankyou. via /r/youtube

It's quite incredible the responsibility that YouTube has to undertake as a company
