Seeing as there's been a large influx of people coming to mod mail, we felt it was a good idea to clarify the rules. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT A CHANGE TO THE RULES, JUST CLARIFICATIONS.Posts must relate to YouTube as a platformFirst and foremost: r/YouTube is for discussing YouTube as a platform. This does not include YouTubers. This is strictly about the features YouTube offers, bugs of the site, etc. What is allowed:Discussing features (video posting, comment posting, playlists, stories, etc)Discussing bugs (when a feature isn't working or is assumed to not be working as intended)Discussing things YouTube could do better (ex: Talking about abuse of the report systems, such as Content ID abuse)Any other discussions where the point is about YouTube as a platform. What is NOT allowed:Discussion of specific channels or people on the platform. (ex: Pewdiepie VS T-Series posts)Asking about other subreddits or YouTubersDiscussions not centered around YouTube as a platformRequesting feedback/subs/upvotesRemember the userAny posts directing hate or being abusive towards other users (ex: using racial slurs, calling other people names, etc) is strictly prohibited. Severe cases (hate speech) will result in an instant and permanent ban.Disagreeing with someone is ok - as long as it's a civil discussion, not a flame war.Promotion of any type is not allowedAre you looking to promote your channel or service? Cool! Just don't do it here. If you are looking to grow or offer a service, try r/newtubers or r/videos instead. Feedback posts are not allowed and fall under this rule. Please note, if you are asking for help on a termination, YPP problem, etc, it is perfectly fine (and requested) that you put your channel link in the post! This is not considered promotion.Memes are not allowedWe do not allow memes on r/YouTube. Very seldom do they contribute to a healthy, civil discussion on our sub. As such, we remove them all so we don't have to manually review all posts.Encouraging breaking YouTube's ToS/Community GuidelinesPosts encouraging breaking YouTube's rules in any way (S4S, false reporting, using bots, etc) will result in a week ban, no questions asked.Brigading type posts are not allowedWe do not allow posts in which the goal is to stir hate towards others or to start a mass report spree. If you feel content on the platform is abusive, report it. Posting about it here will not get anything done about it.If you have a question about the rules, feel free to ask.SpamShouldn't have to say this here, but make sure your post hasn't been discussed in the last day or so. If you post something that's been posted in the last 24 hours, it will be removed. We have this rule to prevent one topic from dominating the entirety of the sub. While it is ok to talk about one topic more in detail, it's better to allow for more than one topic to be discussed. Please try to keep discussions of the same topic to a single mega-thread. via /r/youtube
